Matière Papier végétal - From plant to paper

I create the paper from plants I gather and treat by heating to obtain three different possible bases and to give the paper a widely varied aspect. The leaf is left whole, or the organic matter is turned into a liquid or crushed into pulp.
The potential combinations of structure, texture, shape, transparency and color ( I only use white or ochre colored paper best suited to play with the light) are infinite.
Once dry and shaped, the paper is treated to preserve the fine, aerial quality of leaves and to ensure it will resist the test of time.
The paper is mounted on a springy bronze thread structure which allows it to flutter in the air without suffering damage. Daylight illuminates the surface ; at night, when the lume is on the light emphasizes the organic matter and creates shadows.

It is mainly composed of cellulose and pigments but the material has such extraordinary properties it seems to possess magical qualities.
It can be molded into an infinite variety of shapes. Once it has dried it becomes hard and opaque.
I then work on its surface aspect using different products generally used in the treatment of wood
Caillose is designed for indoor use alone.
The pigments and the way I mix them create a stone like material with an infinite range of tonal variety.

Matière Bois - Wood

Caillose et bois.
Tellement beau ensemble

Caillose and wood.
There is such potential in their combination !
I go through the wood I have – found or given, to my mind it is always a gift – to see what special feature of the piece could be highlighted and what could be brought to life by associating it with caillose.
